MLB The Show 25 Weekend Classic Lineup Recommendation: What Lineup Can You Build?

After the July 11th update, a large number of new cards have arrived, along with many rewards. The 30 Team Affinity All-Star Game series players added in this update are all 96 OVR.

Hank Greenberg’s primary position is first baseman. He is good at swinging with his right hand, but he can hit the ball stably regardless of whether the ball comes from the left or right. But even with 9 quirks on this card, he still ranks only sixth among first basemen, while Adam Dunn with 93 OVR ranks fourth.

Derek Jeter has spent his entire career with Yankees. As a shortstop, he hit the most hits and is still Yankees’ hit leader. He was elected to Baseball Hall of Fame in 2020 with a 99% vote rate.

This card is also the most valuable of the three Boss cards. He currently ranks first among MLB 25 shortstops. His high contact attribute allows him to make contact with the ball steadily, and his strength attribute of around 80 is enough for him to hit. And his Vision attribute has reached 80, which allows him to play well in higher difficulty.

Nolan Ryan has played for many teams, and this card represents his time with California Angels. His 22 wins and 16 losses in 1974 are still a record that Angels have not broken.

The starting pitchers in MLB 25 are all very strong, and 94 OVR Nolan Ryan ranks third among them. He is good at 4 pitching methods, but none of them are very high in control attributes.

You can get two of the bosses for free through 4th Inning Program. I recommend Nolan Ryan and Derek Jeter. All three of them are worth around 30,000 stubs. If you have enough stubs, you can go to the trade market to unlock the last boss which one you didn't choose.

In MLB The Show 25, you can often see players with quirks besides their attributes. When two players have the same Overall Rating and their attributes are close, the player with more quirks is often worth more stubs. There are even players whose attributes are not good enough, but they have 5 or even 10 quirks, which makes them get a high Overall Rating.

So how do these quirks work? Which players have more quirks?

How Do Quirks Work?

Each quirk represents a condition. If this condition is met, the player can get an attribute improvement and gain strength beyond their stats.

Quirks do not work in isolation. As long as you meet the corresponding conditions, your players can get multiple improvements. For example, Night Player, Road Warrior and Rally Monkey, triggering these three quirks at the same time can greatly improve their attributes. This mechanism of improving strength in certain situations is very fascinating, and it allows your players to fight back and win like true stars on the court. That’s why players with more quirks tend to be worth more MLB The Show 25 stubs.

How Many Quirks Are In The Game?

There are currently 20 quirks in MLB The Show 25. These quirks are not dispersed, and some quirks are shared only by a few players.

Here are all the quirks:

1. Bad Ball Hitter (153 Players Cards): Hitter is good at hitting balls out of the strike zone.
2. Break Outlier (118 Players Cards): Pitcher loses less rest time when tired.
3. Breaking Ball Hitter (159 Players Cards): Hitter is good at hitting curveballs.
4. Catcher Pop Time (18 Players Cards): Good at knocking out base stealers.
5. Day Player (269 Players Cards): Better when playing day games.
6. Dead Red (224 Players Cards): Hitter is good at hitting fastballs.
7. Fighter (164 Players Cards): Player performs better in the 9th inning or later.
8. First-Pitch Hitter (196 Players Cards): Hitter is good at hitting the first pitch of the at-bat.
9. Homebody (319 Players Cards): Player performs better when playing at home.
10. Night Player (250 Players Cards): Player performs better when playing at night.
11. Outlier I (43 Players Cards): Primary pitch exceeds maximum speed limit.
12. Outlier II (13 Players Cards): Secondary pitch exceeds maximum speed limit.
13. Pick Off Artist (170 Players Cards): Has an extremely effective pick-off move.
14. Pinch Hitter (96 Players Cards): Hitter is good at pinch-hitting.
15. Rally Monkey (138 Players Cards): Player performs better when the team is trailing.
16. Road Warrior (203 Players Cards): Player performs better when playing away from home.
17. Situational Hitter (227 Players Cards): Players are good at hitting a runner from third base with less than 2 outs.
18. Stopper (95 Players Cards): Players perform better when their team is trailing.
19. Table Setter (158 Players Cards): Players perform better when there are no runners.
20. Unfazed (111 Players Cards): Players are good at hitting two-strikes.

Quirks Ranks

While some quirks are rare, such as Outlier II and Catcher Pop Time, which are possessed by less than 20 players, rarity does not mean power. A quirk that works frequently is more popular.

• Tier S: Day Player, Homebody, Night Player, Road Warrior.
• Tier A: Break Outlier, Pick Off Artist, Bad Ball Hitter, Stopper, Rally Monkey, Pinch Hitter, Fighter, Unfazed, First-Pitch Hitter, Dead Red.
• Tier B: Situational Hitter, Outlier I, Outlier II, Breaking Ball Hitter, Catcher Pop Time, Breaking Ball Hitter.

The quirks are judged by whether the quirk is easy to trigger and whether it lasts long enough. Quirks that last long or are not so hard to trigger belong to Tier A.

The quirks in Tier S are all quirks that last long and are not difficult to trigger. If the conditions are met, they will provide benefits to this player throughout the game.

These are some players with a lot of quirks, most of which are of great value. For example, Bobby Witt Jr. and Shohei Ohtani are perhaps the most valuable players in MLB 25, with both cards worth hundreds of thousands of MLB The Show 25 stubs.

But quirks don’t play a critical role. If the card’s attributes are not good enough, even if it has 11 or even 12 quirks, it will not make it into the top players. For example, Bobby Witt Jr. and Ketel Marte, both with 78 OVR, have 11 quirks, but their stats are too low, which makes them far inferior to their diamond cards.

There are also may top players in MLB The Show 25 with 5 to 8 quirks, which are the mainstays of players’ team building. Although the more quirks, the better, it also means that it is more difficult to unlock them and will cost you more stubs, so you’d better do it within your means.

MLB The Show 25 is a baseball game that includes all the outstanding players from the last century to this century. You can either form a team you support or form a dream team with the best active players. You can even gather retired legends to form a legendary team.
