MLB The Show 25 Top 8 All Star Cards: What Are The Attributes Of These Players?

After the July 11th update, a large number of new cards have arrived, along with many rewards. The 30 Team Affinity All-Star Game series players added in this update are all 96 OVR.

Although these players are free, you also have to complete the corresponding paths to get these rewards. 30 players represent 30 paths, and fortunately, the rewards for each path are roughly the same. You can get player cards, XP and MLB The Show 25 stubs.

There are many quests to get Team Affinity in the game, which can be completed in single player or online. If you have the Jolt series of cards, you can complete the following quests faster. As long as you take a little time to play the game every day, you will find that these rewards will continue to unlock.

Dear players, since May Spotlight Drop 5 Program has released, the next one is June Spotlight Drop 1 Program, which focuses on the players who performed very well in each month.

June Spotlight Drop 1 Program is a very short program with only 10 rewards, including 3 players that can be obtained without MLB 25 stubs.

Spotlight Drop 1  Program Rewards

1. 5 Points: MLB The Show 25 pack
2. 10 Points: 91 OVR Topps Now Colton Gordon
3. 15 Points: MLB The Show 25 pack
4. 20 Points: 91 OVR Topps Now Jac Caglianone
5. 25 Points: MLB The Show 25 pack
6. 30 Points: Ballin’ is a Habit pack
7. 35 Points: MLB The Show 25 pack
8. 40 Points: 5,000 XP
9. 45 Points: June Spotlight Drop 1 pack
10. 50 Points: 93 OVR Spotlight Series Hunter Goodman

The above are all the rewards for Spotlight Drop 1. The three players in this reward are all Quirks, so whether they are strong or not depends mainly on their attributes.

91 OVR Topps Now Colton Gordon

• Stamina: 88
• H/9: 83
• K/9: 88
• BB/9: 92
• HR/9: 81
• Pitch Clutch: 90
• Control: 89
• Velocity: 76
• Break: 90

Colton Gordon will make his major league debut as a starting pitcher for Astros on May 14, 2025. He had an up-and-down month in June. He had a great performance on June 6, which gave him his first win in MLB 25, and he also had a great performance against Twins on June 13, but the left-hander’s performance in the next game against Athletics was a little worse.

As a starting pitcher, 91 OVR Colton Gordon currently ranks 44th in MLB 25. His statistics are very balanced, except for a slightly slower speed. Other than that, Colton Gordon is not far behind the top pitchers.

91 OVR Topps Now Jac Caglianone

• Contact Right: 101
• Contact Left: 84
• Power Right: 92
• Power Left: 90
• Vision: 70
• Discipline: 67
• Clutch: 100
• Bunt: 35
• Drag Bunt: 25
• Durability: 95

Jac Caglianone just entered MLB on June 2 of this year, becoming an outfielder and first baseman for Kansas City Royals. He has hit two home runs in his at-bats in June, and in the same game, which undoubtedly proves his value.

Jac Caglianone’s attributes are very good. He has no shortcomings in both contact and power, but judging from his record of hitting two home runs, his power attribute should obviously be higher.

93 OVR Spotlight Series Hunter Goodman

• Contact Right: 102
• Contact Left: 88
• Power Right: 107
• Power Left: 90
• Vision: 67
• Discipline: 32
• Clutch: 105
• Bunt: 35
• Drag Bunt: 25
• Durability: 95

Hunter Goodman is not an MLB rookie. He has already made his debut in the major leagues in 2023. He is currently a catcher and first baseman for Rockies. Hunter Goodman has been in hot form this month, reversing Rockies’ decline, and many fans think he should play in All-Star Game.

Hunter Goodman ranks seventh in MLB 25. He can also play as a left and right outfielder and first baseman. This flexible position selection makes his value far higher than most players who need MLB The Show 25 stubs. His right hand has strong contact and power, allowing him to successfully hit home runs in the game.

42. 440,000 XP: Deluxe Pipeline Past pack

Besides 4th Inning Boss Choice Pack, which allowing players to select the boss, there is another noteworthy reward, which is 93 OVR Adam Dunn Milestone. This card has very high attributes and cannot be traded with MLB The Show 25 stubs.

93 OVR Adam Dunn Milestone

• Contact Right: 98
• Contact Left: 79
• Power Right: 125
• Power Left: 91
• Vision: 52
• Discipline: 107
• Clutch: 92
• Bunt: 35
• Drag Bunt: 25
• Durability: 99

This card represents Adam Troy Dunn’s time with Reds. His primary position is left fielder, followed by first baseman. Adam Duun has been selected to All-Star Game twice, in 2002 and 2012, and has been inducted into Hall of Fame.

He bats left-handed and can accurately focus on pitches to the right. And his right hand power attribute reaches an amazing 125, which allows him to hit home runs. But this is not his upper limit, he also has 8 quirks. As a free card, he has surpassed 99% of the cards.

4th Inning Program Bosses

94 OVR Hank Greenberg All-star

• Contact Right: 94
• Contact Left: 90
• Power Right: 104
• Power Left: 109
• Vision: 67
• Discipline: 97
• Clutch: 95
• Bunt: 52
• Drag Bunt: 45
• Durability: 97

Hank Greenberg is the first baseball player of Jewish descent in American history. He spent most of his career with Tigers. Hank Greenberg was selected to All-Star Game five times and won World Series championship with the team twice. He was a baseball star in the 1930s.

Hank Greenberg’s primary position is first baseman. He is good at swinging with his right hand, but he can hit the ball stably regardless of whether the ball comes from the left or right. But even with 9 quirks on this card, he still ranks only sixth among first basemen, while Adam Dunn with 93 OVR ranks fourth.

94 OVR Derek Jeter All-Star

• Contact Right: 120
• Contact Left: 108
• Power Right: 80
• Power Left: 82
• Vision: 80
• Discipline: 80
• Clutch: 120
• Bunt: 50
• Drag Bunt: 43
• Durability: 98

Derek Jeter has spent his entire career with Yankees. As a shortstop, he hit the most hits and is still Yankees’ hit leader. He was elected to Baseball Hall of Fame in 2020 with a 99% vote rate.

This card is also the most valuable of the three Boss cards. He currently ranks first among MLB 25 shortstops. His high contact attribute allows him to make contact with the ball steadily, and his strength attribute of around 80 is enough for him to hit. And his Vision attribute has reached 80, which allows him to play well in higher difficulty.

94 OVR Nolan Ryan All-Star

• Stamina: 112
• H/9: 101
• K/9: 102
• BB/9: 55
• HR/9: 86
• Pitch Clutch: 108
• Control: 65
• Velocity: 99
• Break: 99

Nolan Ryan has played for many teams, and this card represents his time with California Angels. His 22 wins and 16 losses in 1974 are still a record that Angels have not broken.

The starting pitchers in MLB 25 are all very strong, and 94 OVR Nolan Ryan ranks third among them. He is good at 4 pitching methods, but none of them are very high in control attributes.

You can get two of the bosses for free through 4th Inning Program. I recommend Nolan Ryan and Derek Jeter. All three of them are worth around 30,000 stubs. If you have enough stubs, you can go to the trade market to unlock the last boss which one you didn't choose.

In MLB The Show 25, you can often see players with quirks besides their attributes. When two players have the same Overall Rating and their attributes are close, the player with more quirks is often worth more stubs. There are even players whose attributes are not good enough, but they have 5 or even 10 quirks, which makes them get a high Overall Rating.

So how do these quirks work? Which players have more quirks?

How Do Quirks Work?

Each quirk represents a condition. If this condition is met, the player can get an attribute improvement and gain strength beyond their stats.

Quirks do not work in isolation. As long as you meet the corresponding conditions, your players can get multiple improvements. For example, Night Player, Road Warrior and Rally Monkey, triggering these three quirks at the same time can greatly improve their attributes. This mechanism of improving strength in certain situations is very fascinating, and it allows your players to fight back and win like true stars on the court. That’s why players with more quirks tend to be worth more MLB The Show 25 stubs.

How Many Quirks Are In The Game?

There are currently 20 quirks in MLB The Show 25. These quirks are not dispersed, and some quirks are shared only by a few players.

Here are all the quirks:

1. Bad Ball Hitter (153 Players Cards): Hitter is good at hitting balls out of the strike zone.
2. Break Outlier (118 Players Cards): Pitcher loses less rest time when tired.
3. Breaking Ball Hitter (159 Players Cards): Hitter is good at hitting curveballs.
4. Catcher Pop Time (18 Players Cards): Good at knocking out base stealers.
5. Day Player (269 Players Cards): Better when playing day games.
6. Dead Red (224 Players Cards): Hitter is good at hitting fastballs.
7. Fighter (164 Players Cards): Player performs better in the 9th inning or later.
8. First-Pitch Hitter (196 Players Cards): Hitter is good at hitting the first pitch of the at-bat.
9. Homebody (319 Players Cards): Player performs better when playing at home.
10. Night Player (250 Players Cards): Player performs better when playing at night.
11. Outlier I (43 Players Cards): Primary pitch exceeds maximum speed limit.
12. Outlier II (13 Players Cards): Secondary pitch exceeds maximum speed limit.
13. Pick Off Artist (170 Players Cards): Has an extremely effective pick-off move.
14. Pinch Hitter (96 Players Cards): Hitter is good at pinch-hitting.
15. Rally Monkey (138 Players Cards): Player performs better when the team is trailing.
16. Road Warrior (203 Players Cards): Player performs better when playing away from home.
17. Situational Hitter (227 Players Cards): Players are good at hitting a runner from third base with less than 2 outs.
18. Stopper (95 Players Cards): Players perform better when their team is trailing.
19. Table Setter (158 Players Cards): Players perform better when there are no runners.
20. Unfazed (111 Players Cards): Players are good at hitting two-strikes.

Quirks Ranks

While some quirks are rare, such as Outlier II and Catcher Pop Time, which are possessed by less than 20 players, rarity does not mean power. A quirk that works frequently is more popular.

• Tier S: Day Player, Homebody, Night Player, Road Warrior.
• Tier A: Break Outlier, Pick Off Artist, Bad Ball Hitter, Stopper, Rally Monkey, Pinch Hitter, Fighter, Unfazed, First-Pitch Hitter, Dead Red.
• Tier B: Situational Hitter, Outlier I, Outlier II, Breaking Ball Hitter, Catcher Pop Time, Breaking Ball Hitter.

The quirks are judged by whether the quirk is easy to trigger and whether it lasts long enough. Quirks that last long or are not so hard to trigger belong to Tier A.

The quirks in Tier S are all quirks that last long and are not difficult to trigger. If the conditions are met, they will provide benefits to this player throughout the game.

Which Player Has The Most Quirks?

• 91 OVR Bobby Witt Jr.: 11 quirks
• 89 OVR Ketel Marte: 11 quirks
• 93 OVR Aaron Judge: 10 quirks
• 91 OVR Shohei Ohtani: 10 quirks
• 89 OVR Manny Ramirez: 10 quirks
• 88 OVR Stan Musial: 10 quirks
• 87 OVR Bryce Harper: 10 quirks
• 90 OVR Ralph Kiner: 9 quirks
• 90 OVR Ken Griffey Jr.: 9 quirks
• 90 OVR Roberto Clemente: 9 quirks
• 91 OVR Jim Thome: 8 quirks

These are some players with a lot of quirks, most of which are of great value. For example, Bobby Witt Jr. and Shohei Ohtani are perhaps the most valuable players in MLB 25, with both cards worth hundreds of thousands of MLB The Show 25 stubs.

But quirks don’t play a critical role. If the card’s attributes are not good enough, even if it has 11 or even 12 quirks, it will not make it into the top players. For example, Bobby Witt Jr. and Ketel Marte, both with 78 OVR, have 11 quirks, but their stats are too low, which makes them far inferior to their diamond cards.

There are also may top players in MLB The Show 25 with 5 to 8 quirks, which are the mainstays of players’ team building. Although the more quirks, the better, it also means that it is more difficult to unlock them and will cost you more stubs, so you’d better do it within your means.

MLB The Show 25 is a baseball game that includes all the outstanding players from the last century to this century. You can either form a team you support or form a dream team with the best active players. You can even gather retired legends to form a legendary team.

There are many positions in baseball. If you want to form a legendary and powerful team, each player must be strong enough. Now let’s have a look at the most excellent players in each position.

Catcher

1. Mike Piazza, 92 OVR All-Star
2. Jorge Posada, 92 OVR Standout
3. Ted Simmons, 90 OVR Awards
4. Carlos Santana, 92 OVR Spotlight
5. Bo Naylor, 92 OVR Color Storm

Mike Piazza’s baseball career started with Dodgers in 1996 and ended with Mets in 2008. Although he is a catcher, he has hit 427 home runs in his career.

He is currently the best catcher, but he cannot play as a designated hitter, which makes his value very low, only 11,000 MLB The Show 25 stubs.

First Baseman

1. Gil Hodges, 99 OVR Hall of Fame
2. Jeimer Candelario, 91 OVR Moonshot
3. Don Baylor, 91 OVR Standout
4. Willie Stargell, 90 OVR Contributor
5. Stan Musial, 88 OVR All-Star

The best first baseman is naturally Gil Hodges, and his super high attributes make it difficult to dispute. Whether it is offense or defense, he is the best.

But you know it’s hard to get this card, so we’ll settle for the next best thing and choose the easier cards in the top five, which are Jeimer Candelario and Willie Stargell. Both cards can be obtained through MLB The Show 25 stubs trading, but Jeimer Candelario is more valuable, around 140,000 stubs, and Willie Stargell is 1/14 of him. You can make a choice based on your assets.

Second Baseman

1. Brian Dozier, 93 OVR 2nd Half Heroes
2. Jason Kipnis, 92 OVR Prime
3. Chase Utley, 91 OVR All-Star
4. Jake Cronenworth, 9 OVR2 Color Storm
5. Brian Roberts, 91 OVR Moonshot

Brian Dozier announced his retirement in 2021, ending his eight-year career in the major leagues. Brian Dozier is good at hitting, and his performance in fielding is also good, but his speed is mediocre.

As the current top-ranked second baseman in MLB 25, you only need 15,000 stubs to get this card.

Third Baseman

1. Scott Rolen, 99 OVR Awards
2. José Ramírez, 91 OVR Live
3. Chase Headley, 93 OVR 2nd Half Heroes
4. Willi Castro, 93 OVR Topps Now
5. Mark Vientos, 91 OVR Color Storm

A seven-time All-Star and eight-time Gold Glove winner, Scott Rolen is an undisputed star on the field. But completing his collection is difficult, and as an alternative, you can choose José Ramírez, who is good at hitting but weak on defense.

Left Fielder

1. Yordan Alvarez, 92 OVR All-Star
2. Aaron Judge, 93 OVR Live
3. Lou Brock, 91 OVR Moonshot
4. Jung Hoo Lee, 91 OVR Color Storm
5. Willie Stargell, 90 OVR Contributor

Yordan Alvarez has won many honors since entering the major leagues in 2022. He has been selected as an All-Star for three consecutive years.

Yordan Alvarez can only play as a left fielder in MLB 25. He is very good at hitting and is also a rare left-handed hitter. The value of this card is about 110,000 stubs. If you don’t have many stubs, you can also exchange it for Lou Brock, who is worth about 7,000 stubs.

Right Fielder

1. Carlos Beltran, 99 OVR Signature
2. Shohei Ohtani, 91 OVR Live
3. Aaron Judge, 93 OVR Live
4. Ronald Acuña Jr., 94 OVR All-Star
5. George Springer, 93 OVR Standout

Right fielders have too many stars and each one is priced too high to be considered. If you can’t get one of these dominant players, then George Springer at 52,000 stubs is the last resort.

Center Fielder

1. Carlos Beltran, 99 OVR Signature
2. George Springer, 93 OVR Standout
3. George Springer, 93 OVR Ranked 1000
4. Byron Buxton, 92 OVR Moonshot
5. Bernie Williams, 92 OVR Postseason

Center fielders don’t have as many stars, and three of the top five are untradable. If George Springer is already your right fielder, then choose Bernie Williams as your center fielder.

Shortstop

1. Bobby Witt Jr., 91 OVR Live
2. Honus Wagner, 91 OVR 20th Anniversary
3. Willi Castro, 93 OVR Topps Now
4. Ezequiel Tovar, 91 OVR Color Storm
5. Trevor Story, 92 OVR Standout

Some of the above are top-notch in terms of hitting, speed and defense. If you can’t sign Bobby Witt Jr. and Willi Castro, then choose Trevor Story.

Designated Hitter

1. Carlos Beltran, 99 OVR Signature
2. Gil Hodges, 99 OVR Hall of Fame
3. Scott Rolen, 99 OVR Awards
4. José Ramírez, 91 OVR Live
5. Shohei Ohtani, 91 OVR Live

3. Pedro Martinez, 93 OVR All-Sta
4. Pedro Martinez, 93 OVR Ranked 1000
5. Jordan Zimmermann, 92 OVR Milestone

The starting pitcher is the most important part of the team’s defense. Fortunately, except for Roger Clemens, the conditions for obtaining excellent starting pitchers are not harsh. You need to prepare about 54,000 stubs to get a top pitcher.

Relief Pitcher/Closing Pitcher

1. Eric Gagne, 92 OVR All-Star
2. Ben Joyce, 91 OVR Color Storm
3. Andrés Muñoz, 91 OVR Spotlight
4. Dennis Eckersley, 92 OVR Awards
5. Lucas Erceg, 89 OVR Egg Hunt

There are many good relief pitchers, but the good news is that they are usually not very valuable. Even Eric Gagne, who is currently ranked first, only costs about 20,000 stubs.

If you have enough stubs, choose from the above players and build your team!

In MLB The Show 25, the batsman is a very important part of the offense. In the game, it is not only the overall rating that determines the strength of the batsman, but also the various attributes of the batsman and the way the opponent pitches.

Just like there are left-handed and right-handed pitchers, batsmen also have their own dominant hand. Some batsmen can handle pitches from both sides and can switch flexibly with their left and right hands, and these batsmen are switch-hitters. If your team has such a batsman, you don’t have to adjust your team frequently.
