Runes of Aldur mechanic has been released with Path of Exile 2 patch 0.5.0 Return of the Ancients, featuring eight challenging objectives to unlock, each rewarding a complete set of cosmetic gear. These challenges range from simple campaign boss kills to completing endgame maps, so understanding which challenges to prioritize early on can prevent a lot of repetitive exploration.

This article will guide you through quickly completing Runes of Aldur challenges, giving you a head start.Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0: Complete Runes of Aldur Challenges and Earn Every Cosmetic Reward

About Runes of Aldur Challenges

Each league in Path of Exile 2 contains a series of optional challenges related to the season's mechanics and overall progress milestones. Runes of Aldur Challenges consist of eight objectives, each rewarding Knight of Aldur armor set. Pieces of the set unlock progressively as you reach the milestones of each challenge.

For the average player, completing all eight challenges and obtaining a complete set is definitely something to brag about.

All 8 Runes of Aldur Challenges

The Runeseeker

This challenge is directly related to PoE 2 Runes of Aldur mechanic. You need to inscribe runes from Tome at Runic Remnants. Inscription lengths are 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 or more runes. It's recommended to start with shorter runes and gradually increase. Longer runes require more preparation, but you'll naturally level up as you participate in the campaign and early maps.

Note: Don't miss Runic Remnants during leveling. Each encounter counts towards this challenge's level, so consistent participation is faster than repeatedly farming Runic Remnants later.

The Hunter

You need to defeat the following six specific campaign bosses, which are standard campaign bosses encountered in the normal game. This quest will automatically complete by directly completing PoE 2 main storyline without skipping any optional areas.

  • The Crowbell (Act 1, Hunting Grounds)
  • Kabala, Constrictor Queen (Act 2, Keth)
  • Blackjaw, Remnant (Act 3, Jiquani's Machinarium)
  • Great White One (Act 4, Whakapanu Island)
  • Akthi the Final Sting (Interlude 2, The Khari Crossing)
  • Anundr the Sandworm (Interlude 2, The Khari Crossing)

The Ascendant

You need to obtain 8 Ascendancy Points from Trials of Ascendancy. The four trials will unlock at specific points, as follows:

  • Trial 1: You will unlock after defeating the traitor Balbal in Traitor's Passage in Act 2.
  • Trial 2: You will unlock after entering Temple of Chaos in Chimeral Wetlands in Act 3.
  • Trial 3: You need Djinn Barya, level 60 or higher, and at least level 3 of the trial.
  • Trial 4: You need a Djinn Barya of level 75 or higher and reach Trial Level 4, then defeat Temporal Zarok.

Because Third and Fourth Trials require Djinn Barya of specific levels, don't waste high-level Djinn Barya in lower-level trials; you need to reach the correct levels to unlock the trials.

The Master

Reach level 90 in Path of Exile 2 patch 0.5.0 using any class. This is the most time-consuming of the eight challenges and is usually left for last by most players. Farming higher-level maps is the best way to level up your character, but be sure to avoid dying, as dying will result in a significant loss of experience.Buy 8% Off Path of Exile 2 Currency with ROA Code from EZG.com to Create Powerful Build and Complete Runes of Aldur Challenges

The Reliquarian

Identify 50 unique items. Throughout the campaign, collect as many Scrolls of Wisdom as possible and identify every unique item you find. The drop rate of unique items is higher in later maps, making this challenge perfectly aligned with map atlas progression. Note that unique items obtained through Ritual do not count towards the identification count.

Do not sell unidentified unique items. Even low-value items count towards the 50-item total, and the cost of Scrolls of Wisdom is negligible compared to challenge progress.

The Artisan

This is a crafting-centric challenge requiring some understanding of the crafting system. This challenge requires players to socket the following Veresium ingredients into an item:

  • Adaptive Alloy
  • Any Flux
  • Cyclonic Alloy
  • Expansive Alloy
  • Celestial Alloy
  • Runic Alloy
  • Protective Alloy
  • Swift Alloy
  • Any Kalguurian Crest
  • Exceptional Verisium
  • Prismatic Alloy
  • Mystic Alloy
  • Sovereign Alloy

The Cartographer

This challenge requires players to explore Atlas and defeat bosses to fully allocate the main Atlas Passive Tree. This isn't actually that difficult; most experienced players will achieve it naturally while farming the map. To allocate skill points to the maximum faster, it's recommended to prioritize exploring new map areas rather than repeatedly playing familiar areas.

The Vanquisher

This is the most difficult of the eight challenges. Players must defeat three Pinnacle Bosses in Path of Exile 2:

  • Vessel of Kulemak
  • The Bodach
  • Tangmazu

Make sure your character is well-equipped before attempting this challenge. Encounters with Pinnacle Bosses will severely punish unprepared players, and your character's death does not count as a kill.

Rewards

You will receive a reward after completing each challenge. Armor pieces will drop at milestones 2, 4, 6, and 8, as follows:

  • Complete Challenge 1: Runes of Aldur Challenger Statue
  • Complete Challenge 2: Second Challenger Statue and Knight of Aldur Boots
  • Complete Challenge 3: Third Challenger Statue
  • Complete Challenge 4: Fourth Challenger Statue and Knight of Aldur Gloves
  • Complete Challenge 5: Fifth Challenger Statue
  • Complete Challenge 6: Knight of Aldur Body Armor and Sixth Challenger Statue
  • Complete Challenge 7: Seventh Challenger Statue
  • Complete Challenge 8: Final Challenger Statue and Knight of Aldur Helmet

This concludes the article on Runes of Aldur challenges in Path of Exile 2 patch 0.5.0 Return of the Ancients. It is recommended to complete Hunter and Reliquarian first, and then leave Vanquisher and Master for last, as these two challenges require significant later investment.
