Following Patch 0.5.0, to enhance the player experience and diversify gameplay, the publisher of Path of Exile 2 quickly released Patch 0.5.1.
This patch is quite comprehensive. The publisher not only expands the endgame content but also adjusts some classes, modifies the strength of some monsters, and fixes numerous bugs.
If you're unfamiliar with the contents of Patch 0.5.1, I will now provide a detailed introduction.
Endgame Expansion
PoE 2 Patch 0.5.1 significantly expands Atlas content, offering players a richer gaming experience. Specifically, this includes:
More Passive Skills and Skill Points
Patch 0.5.1 adds 24 new Passive Skills to the top area of Atlas Passive Tree.
These skills will produce different effects in different areas, requiring players to consider more strategy when choosing exploration routes, rather than simply wandering aimlessly.
Atlas features special landmarks that reward Atlas Skill Points upon completion of exploration. The number of Skill Points you can earn has now been increased.
If you've already completed these areas, don't worry, the system will automatically award you these extra Skill Points upon logging into PoE 2.
More Balanced Breach
Breach, one of the most popular endgame modes in PoE 2, has received several significant improvements in Patch 0.5.1:
First, with Unstable Breach now stable, rare monsters that previously only had a chance to spawn will now spawn.
Furthermore, Breach boss Vruun will now only appear after all rare monsters have been defeated, eliminating the previous chaotic situation of Vruun and regular monsters attacking you simultaneously.
Second, the monster density calculation method in Breach has been modified; the number of monsters is now significantly increased, meaning your efficiency in farming gear will be greatly improved.
Third, a checkpoint will now appear next to Summoning Circles, allowing you to quickly return to the center of Summoning Circles.
More Convenient Map
On Atlas map, you'll often need to pan the map to view different areas. Previously, when you closed and reopened the map, your map view would return to the default position.
In Patch 0.5.1, when you pan the map to a location, even if you close and reopen the map, the interface will remain at the last viewed position.
Although it's a small change, it's extremely useful in daily use.
Classes Adjustments
Patch 0.5.1 adjusts many classes. Overall, it's a huge benefit for players of spellcasting classes in PoE 2, allowing them to readjust their builds.
New Elemental Passive Skills
Forty new Elemental Passive Skills have been added near Witch, Sorceress, and Druid areas of Passive Skill Tree. These talents are mainly concentrated around Jewel Sockets.
Spell Ability Support Gains
Support Gems, previously only usable for offensive abilities, can now also be used to support spell abilities:
First, Cold Attunement, Lightning Attunement, and Fire Attunement Support Gems now provide a 25% bonus to spell damage.
Second, Ice Bite support gem can now also support spell abilities; when you freeze an enemy, you gain 25-30% bonus cold damage over 5-6 seconds.
New Atziri's Communion
PoE 2 also adds a Lineage Support Gem called Atziri's Communion. However, the official description only mentions the name and not its mechanics.
Monster Strength Adjustments
Elite Abyss Monsters Nerfed
Elite Abyss Monsters are among the more challenging enemies in PoE 2's endgame content. Patch 0.5.1 significantly reduced their health, but also reduced the damage they dealt, the amount of gear they dropped, and the experience they provided.
Two Bosses Nerfed
Shepherd of the Pit's Lightning Tendrils skill damage has been reduced by 70%.
Harano, the Meat Carver's total damage has been reduced by 28%, its health by 20%, and its critical strike skill damage by a whopping 50%.
If you were repeatedly dying to these two bosses, now's your chance for revenge.
Numerous Bug Fixes
PoE 2 developers listed dozens of bugs fixed in Patch 0.5.1 Notes, covering a very wide range of issues. Here are a few that have a significant impact on players:
First, several bugs that could hinder players from progressing through the endgame questline have been fixed. For example, some quest items could not be picked up, quests would not update after defeating bosses, and map portals would not open.
Second, the issue of the item filter sound volume not being adjustable independently has been fixed; now you can adjust the volume of the drop sound individually.
Third, the issue of missing tradeable Origin Fragments and tradeable Call of the Shadows Fragment in Currency Exchange Market has been fixed. Players can now exchange them with other players using Currency.
Fourth, several bugs that could cause client crashes have been fixed.
Fifth, the "skipping class" gameplay has been fixed - previously, when your character was knocked down by a monster and was about to die, you could simply quit the game and log back in, and your character would magically stand up and continue fighting.
However, Patch 0.5.1 fixes this bug; players can no longer avoid death penalties by forcibly logging out.
