Its main function is that, upon entering the map, there is a chance to trigger God of War Followers. These followers are not ordinary monsters, but a group of additionally generated Magic Monsters, which is the core of this Beacon Farming system.

Beacon Constellation increases the chance of magical monsters dropping additional Beacon, while God of War Followers increases the number of magical monsters on the map. Combined, these significantly increase Beacon production on each map, creating a complete profit cycle.

For Passive selection, only the main God of War nodes need to be selected; there's no need to invest in the left-side areas.

Beacon Constellation Selection

Beacon Constellation is the second core area of this setup. Here, the following should be prioritized:

Torchlight: Infinite SS13 has been live for a while now, and I believe everyone has already gotten a feel for this season. Do you think it's good or bad? I have many thoughts on this season mechanic that I'd like to share with you.

This article will analyze in detail the advantages, disadvantages, and future potential of Infinite's Afterlight Mechanic. Let's take a look.

Advantages

Creative Core Concept

While the escort mechanic in SS13 is controversial, I really like the official concept.

The funeral procession theme, with ghost girls escorting a coffin, is a novel visual concept. It breaks away from the common mechanics of fighting monsters in a circle or in a room.

Once you enter the map, your game plan is very simple: escort the coffin to the end of the map. You press E key, the coffin appears, and then you must follow the female team carrying the coffin. During this process, you will be attacked and bombarded by various enemies; defeating them will reward you with loot.

Usher Mortuary Talent Tree

In SS13, players can switch between different difficulty adjustment systems (e.g., enemies deal more damage, fewer respawns, increased loot drops). The gamble of taking more damage for more loot is a reasonable design choice.

Socketable Divinity System

In SS13, players can socket dropped shards into slots to enhance late-game progression, providing long-term vertical development. This system does have considerable depth, but it can be confusing for new players. New players who are interested can spend some time exploring it.

Unique Mechanics

Afterlight procession forces you to keep moving forward; if you stop, the coffin disappears, and the value you gain decreases. As you experience this mechanic, you will gradually unlock all items.

This is completely different from the previous Lunaria and Outlaw mechanics. Mechanics like Lunaria force you to stay in place and kill monsters, while Outlaw forces you to chase robots running in random directions. Players have a completely new experience in the new season, instead of repeating the same old routine.

Weaknesses

Poor Synergy with Map Layouts

In the cramped and confined maps of Torchlight: Infinite Season Afterlight, coffins and enemies can get stuck in the terrain. Frame rate drops are also frequent, making the already tense mechanics even more clunky, and occasional connection drops lead to a poor player experience.

Build-Disparity

In Infinite's Afterlight Mechanic, melee builds are particularly vulnerable because the parade pulls you into dense groups of enemies, and you can't stop to fight them head-on. This mechanic heavily favors fast-moving, screen-clearing builds.

This is extremely unfair to many players who prefer melee builds, some of whom even have to rebuild a build they've never played before.

Difficulty Selection Switching

In the settings menu, all difficulty options are checked by default. You cannot individually turn any item on or off. If you click reset, all settings will be reset, not just a single adjustment.

This means weaker builds are forced into a difficulty spike they can't handle, with no way to adjust the gameplay experience.

Visual Clutter

In Torchlight Infinite Afterlight Mechanic, when multiple mods are stacked, the screen is filled with particle effects and ground decay, making it difficult to see what's actually happening.

Teleport Players to a Separate Cemetery Instance

Instead of having coffins spawn in the normal map, clicking on a coffin would teleport the player to a dedicated cemetery map.

In the cemetery, players can independently complete escort missions. After completing the mission, the player will be immediately teleported back to the original map, back to their last departure point, a completely seamless and uninterrupted experience. This would further enhance the role-playing experience and the game's atmosphere, particularly the dark and brutal graveyard setting.

Give Players Agency Over Difficulty Modifiers

Allow players to individually switch between the buffs/debuffs they want to activate (e.g., choosing 4 out of 8 options). This allows weaker players to gradually adapt, while stronger players can challenge themselves with higher difficulties, creating a true difficulty slider rather than a steep, one-dimensional difficulty.

Make It Like Mistville or Overrealm

I suggest borrowing from existing dungeon mechanics to create a separate area that leads players to a better gaming experience.

Improve Rewards Naturally

When adjusting loot quantities in Torchlight Infinite, developers need to be gradual and avoid sudden changes that could cause player controversy. I think slightly increasing the loot drop rate would help players progress further.

Guide & Clarity Improvements

The divinity socket system is indeed confusing for players. I suggest the developers provide better introductory guides or tutorials for new players.

Currently, the Torchlight Infinite Afterlight Mechanic feels too rigid, offering players no freedom. While I don't actually dislike the mechanic itself, it's a bit chaotic, and the lack of difficulty adjustment makes it feel like a punishment and frustrating experience rather than fun and strategic.

He believes that if the developers isolated it into a separate section and allowed players to choose various modifiers, it could become a truly excellent endgame system. Hopefully, the developers will see this and improve it, giving players more choices, which will ultimately make the game better.
