It has been half a month since the official release of WoW Classic TBC Anniversary. According to the original plan, three brand-new raids will be launched soon: Karrazhan, Gruul's Lair, and Magtheridon's Lair, each with a wealth of content to explore and challenges.

Among these, Karazhan is probably the most important, not only because of the high level of reward items it contains, but also because it has a special reputation-building system. Therefore, EZG.com will provide you with a detailed introduction to the new Karazhan Raid added in TBC.Don't Get Left Behind! Karazhan Is Here: Your Massive Guide to TBC Anniversary Attunement & Tier 4 BiS Loot!

About This Raid

According to the developers, Karazhan Raid, which is being added to TBC Classic Anniversary, is the first 10-player raid in the expansion. It requires you to complete specific tasks to unlock and will reset weekly after its release on February 19.

This raid features 12 bosses, all of whom can drop item level 115 gear, as well as item level 120 gear that can be redeemed with Tier 4 Tokens; and the final boss, Prince Malchezaar, can provide item level 125 gear. Another boss, Attumen the Huntsman, may reward you with Fiery Warhorse's Reins, also the mount he uses in Midnight expansion.

The loot that bosses offer you is nothing special; you should focus on what you can get by redeeming Tier 4 Tokens. In the existing game content, Hunter, Mage, and Warlock share Hero Tier 4 Tokens; Paladin, Rogue, and Shaman share Champion Tier 4 Tokens; and Warrior, Priest, and Druid share Defender Tier 4 Tokens.

These tokens can be exchanged for Gloves and Helm gear in Shattrath City. The specific location and supplier depend on your chosen faction: members of The Aldor can find Asuur at Aldor's Rise; while members of The Scryers can find Arodis Sunblade at Scryer's Tier.

Location

After gaining a general understanding, we'll prepare to explore it. The first step is to determine the location of Karazhan raid, which is situated at the southern end of Deadwind Pass, which is settled right between Duskwood and Swamp of Sorrows.

It's worth noting that the raid takes place on Azeroth, so you can only get there by ground mount, even if you've learned to fly. For Alliance players, the shortest route to enter is from Darkshire in Duskwood, heading northeast until Deadwind Pass.

For Horde players, the quickest way is to start from Stone in Swamp of Sorrows and follow the path uphill to the west until you reach the designated location. If you have Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian, you can directly use Portal: Karazhan to teleport here, which is the most convenient method.Buy 5% OFF TBC Gold with TBC5 Code at EZG.com to Get More Gear to Conquer Karazhan Raid

Unlocking Method

Next, we need to figure out how to unlock Karazhan raid in TBC Classic. This will require you to complete a series of tasks to establish a connection with Karazhan and obtain The Master's Key.

You'll unlock all the questlines after interacting with Archmage Alturus at the raid entrance. This will take you to various dungeons to collect key fragments and large amounts of WoW TBC Anniversary Gold, such as in Shadow Labyrinth, The Steamvault, and The Arcatraz.

Exploration Routes | Missions & Shortcuts

Once you enter Karazhan raid, you will receive two major quest lines: Violet Badge Quest Chain and Nightbane Quest Chain, each of which will provide you with some important rewards upon completion. The following are the specific names and objectives of these missions.

Violet Badge Quest Chain

To unlock this questline, you need to reach Honored rank with The Violet Eye reputation, which can be obtained by killing monsters in Karazhan and completing Karazhan-related quests.

Once you reach the designated level, speak with Archmage Alturus, who will give you the unlock quest. He will then continue to offer you the following quests:

  • The Violet Eye: Speak with Archmage Alturus outside Karazhan.
  • Assessing the Situation: Find Koren the Blacksmith in Karazhan.
  • Keanna's Log: Retrieve Keanna's Log, located just outside Maiden of Virtue's room, and return it to Archmage Alturus.
  • A Demonic Presence: Destroy Demonic Presence at the peak of Karrazhan.
  • The New Directive: Talk to Archmage Cedric on the outskirts of Dalaran Crater.

You will receive Violet Badge after completing these five tasks.

Nightbane Quest Chain

This questline requires you to fight Nightbane, the only boss in WoW Classic TBC that requires a specific attunement to trigger the fight. Therefore, you need to obtain the attunement as soon as possible in order to earn more valuable loot and more Gold.

  • Medivh's Journal: Archmage Alturus at Deadwind Pass wants you to travel to Karazhan and speak with Wravien.
  • In Good Hands: Talk to Gradav in Guardian's Library in Karazhan.
  • Kamsis: Talk to Kamsis in Guardian's Library in Karazhan.
  • The Shade of Aran: Retrieve Medivh's Journal from Shade of Aran and return it to Kamsis in Guardian's Library in Karazhan.
  • The Master's Terrace: Go to Master's Terrace in Karazhan and read Medivh's Journal.
  • Digging Up the Past: Archmage Alturus wants you to travel to the mountains south of Karazhan in Deadwind Pass and retrieve some Charred Bone Fragments.
  • A Colleague's Aid: Deliver Charred Bone Fragments to Kalynna Lathred in Area 52 in Netherstorm.
  • Kalynna's Request: Kalynna Lathred asks you to retrieve Tome of Dusk from Grand Warlock Nethekurse in Shattered Halls of Hellfire Citadel and Book of Forgotten Names from Darkweaver Syth in Auchindoun. This quest must be completed on Heroic difficulty.
  • Nightbane: Travel to Master's Terrace in Karazhan and interact with Blackened Urn to summon Nightbane. Collect Faint Arcane Essence from Nightbane's corpse and return it to Archmage Alturus.

After completing these 9 tasks, you will receive one of the following: Pulsing Amethyst, Infused Amethyst, or Soothing Amethyst, and you will have the right to summon Nightbane boss every time you enter Karazhan.

In these missions, you need to defeat the bosses in the following order: Moroes, Opera Event, The Curator, and Chess Event. Apart from these four bosses, theoretically all other bosses are optional and you can encounter them at will.

Throughout the quest and as you kill all the monsters, there are some shortcuts available. Such as, the servant entrance in the mezzanine above the ballroom can help you shorten the route to certain bosses in the raid; and after killing Shade of Aran, you can talk to the guard Berthold next to the stairs at the raid entrance to teleport directly to his room.

Reputation System

In WoW TBC Phase 1, a new Violet Eye reputation was added. Reputation points can be accumulated and levels can be increased by killing monsters in Karazhan and completing certain quests. Each normal monster rewards approximately 15 reputation points, while bosses reward more.

Like other reputation systems, Violet Eye also has four ranks: Friendly, Honored, Revered, and Exalted, which begin when you accept the Down the Violet Path quest from Archmage Leryda. Starting with Friendly, you'll receive a best-in-slot ring, which increases in quality and item level as your reputation rises, up to a maximum of 130.

This concludes the information regarding Karazhan raid, which will be released on February 19th as part of WoW Classic TBC Anniversary. A strategy guide for challenging all bosses in this raid, as well as an efficient farming guide, will also be available here. You can keep an eye out for it. Have fun playing the game!
