The gates to Outland will open on February 5th for WoW TBC anniversary. Warriors from both Horde and Alliance are undoubtedly eager to fight the demons.
Gear and level—anything that improves your character is important. Here are some powerful and useful trinkets you can acquire during leveling that you often overlook, but which can even be useful in raids.

Spell DPS Trinkets
For spell DPS classes, hit rating is a crucial hurdle to overcome in the early stages of gear building. The following two trinkets will provide you with vital spell hit rating.
Starkiller's Bauble
Starkiller's Bauble is an excellent trinket that many people are unaware of. Before raids open, this trinket might have been one of the best-in-slot (BiS) items.
It provides 26 spell hit rating and increases spell damage by 125 for 15 seconds after use. For classes with damage-over-time abilities (such as Scorch, Starfall, Vampiric Touch, etc.), casting abilities after using special effects yields greater benefits.
You need to complete the elite quest "The Horrors of Pollution" in Shadowmoon Valley. The quest item, Vial of Terrible Slime, is dropped by Congealed Void Horror. You can try grouping up or soloing it; the reward for turning in the item is Starkiller's Bauble.
Terokkar Tablet of Vim/Terokkar Tablet of Precision
Terokkar Tablet of Vim increases hit chance by 22, slightly less than Starkiller's Bauble, but provides significantly more healing. If you equip both trinkets, you won't need to worry about spell hit chance anymore.
Terokkar Tablet of Precision is obtained in the same way, but in addition to the 22 hit chance, it provides an attack damage bonus.
You need to travel to Bone Wasteland in southern Terokkar Forest to obtain the quest. Ultimately, you'll need to complete the quest "Torgos!", which involves defeating Torgos. If you find it too difficult, you can team up with friends to complete this quest.
Physical DPS Trinkets
Physical classes also face the problem of insufficient hit rating before tackling raids.
Core of Ar'kelos
Core of Ar'kelos provides a permanent 52 attack power and increases attack power by 200 for 20 seconds after use. It can also utilize the effect snapshot mechanism to increase the damage of specific skills.
You only need to complete the quest chain "The Archmage's Staff" from Area 52 and finally defeat Ar'kelos to obtain this trinket. This quest chain offers a good amount of experience, and you can obtain them while leveling.
Choices After Hit Rating Requirements
Once you meet the hit rating requirements with other gear, you can replace the hit rating trinket with one that offers higher pure benefits.
Bladefist's Breadth (Physical DPS)
Bladefist's Breadth provides 26 critical strike chance and increases attack power by 200 for 15 seconds after use. It's comparable to Core of Ar'kelos and is a reward from Hellfire Peninsula quest chain.
Ancient Crystal Talisman/Overlord Gorefist (Spellcaster/Healer)
These two trinkets have the same effect, providing a permanent 26 spell damage and healing, and increasing spell damage and healing after use. Their permanent stats give them a more consistent advantage compared to some purely damage-focused active trinkets, making them a viable option for healing classes.
They come from different quest drops:
- Horde: A Spirit Ally?
- Alliance: Overlord Gorefist
Tank Trinkets
Dabiri's Enigma
Dabiri's Enigma provides 30 defense rating and an active effect that increases block rating after use. Although block is ineffective for Feral Druid players, many Druid players still choose it due to its high defense rating.
You need to complete the quest chain Dimensius the All-Devouring in Netherstorm. The reward for a final group quest is this.
Regal Protectorate
Regal Protectorate increases defense rating by 26 and grants 900 health upon use, which is useful for all tanks.
You need to complete almost all the questlines in Hellfire Peninsula to unlock the final quest. The quests differ between Horde and Alliance.
- Alliance: Overlord
- Horde: Cruel's Intentions
Charm of Alacrity
Charm of Alacrity increases dodge rating by 192 for 10 seconds upon use, with a short cooldown. This is an excellent Feral Druid trinket and is also suitable for other tanks that have already reached the required defense rating.
You can obtain this trinket by completing the quest, Voidwalkers Gone Wild, in southern Hellfire Peninsula.
Healing Trinkets
Oshu'gun Relic
Oshu'gun Relic provides a permanent 53 healing effect, and when actively used, it increases healing effect by 213 for 20 seconds. Numerically, it's incredibly good. You need to complete the quest, Gava'xi, from Nagrand to obtain it.
Heavenly Inspiration
Heavenly Inspiration provides a permanent 10 mana regeneration, and increases healing effect by 238 for 15 seconds after use.
Complete Netherstorm quest chain starting with the quest "Run a Diagnostic!", culminating in the final quest "Success!".
Essence-Infused Mushroom
Essence-Infused Mushroom has two versions: one restores 200 health every 10 seconds after killing an enemy that grants experience or honor, while the other restores 200 mana. Ideal for farming or leveling in the wild.
It's a reward for the quest "Stalk the Stalke." You'll need to raise your Sporeggar reputation first, then enter Underbog dungeon and defeat The Black Stalker to complete the quest.
These are the most powerful trinkets you can obtain while leveling. They're mostly quest rewards, so they're not particularly difficult to acquire. In TBC, there are certainly more powerful trinkets, but they are much harder to obtain.
