WoW Midnight Patch 12.1 recently underwent another round of tuning, resulting in some changes to PvP environment. After testing in 2v2, 3v3, Solo Shuffle, and some Battleground matches, we've found that the strengths and weaknesses of each class in Season 2 have become more pronounced.

Currently, the most noticeable issue in WoW Midnight PvP remains the slow game pace. Most classes struggle to end a fight with a single burst of damage, and higher player HP and powerful healing further prolong combat.

Based on these changes, this latest WoW Midnight PvP Tier List will re-evaluate each spec based on recent performance in matches, matchups between classes, and the current PvP pace in Curse of Ula'tek.

S Tier

Affliction Warlock

Affliction Warlock damage is extremely high, especially Wither's damage output, which is quite outrageous. Given enough space to deal damage, Affliction can achieve some of the highest damage output in WoW Midnight.

What's truly terrifying about it is its DoT and sustained damage, especially when the opponent can't switch targets or interrupt its damage rhythm in time. Combined with a class like Assassination Rogue, the pressure from this combination is absurd.

If Season 2 doesn't further limit the sustained damage of Wither or Affliction, I believe Affliction Warlock will remain a very strong and noteworthy specialization in Midnight PvP.

Assassination Rogue

Assassination Rogue remains the strongest PvP melee spec in WoW Midnight. They use Deathmark when the target is around 65% HP; often, you won't even have time to react before you're dead.

Sudden Demise also makes its finishing ability extremely strong; once inside the kill window, it's very difficult for your opponent to escape safely. With Garrote, Kidney Shot, higher damage, and excellent sustained and cleave damage, Assassination Rogue in Patch 12.1 is hard to exclude from PvP S Tier.

Fire Mage

Fire Mage currently holds an S Tier position because it has no significant weaknesses in either damage or survivability, making it difficult for opponents to deal with. If you capitalize on your opponent's mistakes, you can unleash a fatal burst of damage without immediately becoming ineffective if you fail to kill them in the first round.

Many players in WoW Midnight are currently using Fire Mage, especially in the slower PvP environment of Season 2, where it offers both high damage output and excellent sustain. Furthermore, this specialization requires very little WoW Midnight Gold investment in the early game, allowing for quick mastery.

Balance Druid

Balance Druid's strength lies more in its versatility and tactical value. In WoW Midnight, Boomkin is more than just a ranged DPS class that relies solely on damage. Its cloning, crowd control, sustained damage, and survivability can all change the course of a PvP match at crucial moments.

Clone, in particular, when used at the right time, can often disrupt the opponent's offensive rhythm, creating a very comfortable counter-attack opportunity for teammates. Its mobility and survivability make it less likely to become a quick breakthrough point after being focused down by the enemy.

More importantly, it has very high team compatibility, forming powerful combinations with S Tier classes and effectively compensating for the weaknesses of weaker classes. When a class has damage, control, and a good margin for error and team composition flexibility, its stability is naturally very high. Therefore, it's not an exaggeration to say that Curse of Ula'tek is Boomkin's season.

A Tier

Arms Warrior

Arms Warrior is also a very interesting class. It might boast one of the highest damage tiers in WoW Midnight; a Slayer Arms Warrior with uptime can melt the target instantly. Looking at damage alone, I even think it's worthy of being placed alongside S Tier classes.

However, Arms Warrior lacks Shadowstep, Garrote, and Kidney Shot, and doesn't have the permanent uptime of a Rogue, so it ultimately ends up in Tier A.

Feral Druid

Feral Druid might not seem like an overpowered specialization at first glance, but it's incredibly flexible and adaptable to many WoW Midnight team compositions.

It synergizes well with high-pressure DPS classes like Fire Mage and Affliction Warlock, and also works well with Arms Warrior, Frost Mage, Arcane Mage, and Hunter. Combined with Druid's excellent mobility and control, Feral is very useful for switching targets, chasing, or dealing extra damage.

Enhancement Shaman

Enhancement Shaman's biggest advantage is its high-pressure melee output. Its damage output is currently very considerable, and it's not the kind of damage that can only be achieved under perfect conditions. As long as the team can create a suitable output environment for it, Enhancement can consistently put a lot of pressure on the opponent.

It has good synergy with many A-tier classes, so there's no shortage of team options. What truly limits its ranking are the matchup issues in the current WoW Midnight Patch 12.1 environment.

Rogue and Mage are both hard counters that Enhancement struggles against, and these two classes are quite common now, so it's prone to encountering unpleasant matchups. However, if these natural counters can be avoided, Enhancement's actual performance fully deserves A-Tier status.

Elemental Shaman

Elemental Shaman is perhaps the most underestimated specialization in Patch 12.1. It doesn't receive much discussion, but once you actually enter PvP matches, you'll find that its damage is anything but low, which is especially noticeable in long battles.

The most typical example is Thunder Cleave, which is Elemental + Arms Warrior. This combination can still reliably create pressure in WoW Midnight Season 2 PvP meta.

Elemental's advantage isn't just about a single burst of damage, but about constantly forcing opponents to relinquish defensive resources through sustained damage and ranged pressure. This spec is already strong enough to be Tier A, and its potential may not yet be fully realized.

Devourer Demon Hunter

Devourer Demon Hunter's high damage should not be underestimated, but its current problem isn't insufficient damage, but that its most terrifying burst phase is no longer as easily overwhelming.

With Resource Generation nerfed, Devourer Demon Hunter face more limitations before reaching their full damage output rhythm. Current WoW Midnight Season 2 players have higher HP, and healers are performing better overall, giving opponents more opportunities to survive the most dangerous phase of a Devour Demon Hunter's play.

Therefore, in PvP matches, Devourer Demon Hunter now rely more on precise micro-management and timing to truly translate their high DPS into kill pressure. This is why they are still viable in Tier A, but compared to the past, they no longer exert as much pressure.

As tuning continues, WoW Midnight Season 2 PvP Tier List may still change. If you're looking for a spec that best suits your playstyle and team composition in Curse of Ula'tek, the classes mentioned above are definitely worth considering.

World of Warcraft: Midnight: The Curse of Ula'tek Season 2 has officially launched today.

This update includes many long-awaited new features and the return of classic content, including new raid dungeons, new dungeons, and new quest and campaign systems. Follow along to explore the details of the update and how players should approach these new features.

New Raid - Venomous Abyss

The Curse of Ula'tek Season 2 introduces an 8-boss raid themed around Amani Troll, where players must delve deep underground to thwart Zul'jan's schemes. 

Difficulty Levels

Venomous Abyss has a total of three difficulty levels:

• LFR
• Normal
• Heroic
• Mythic

Raid Bosses

And eight bosses:

1. Nek'zali the Soulcoiler
2. Entombed Sentinels
3. The Lost Explorers
4. Vashnik the Malignant
5. Sszorak
6. The Twin Fangs
7. The Coiled Altar
8. Ula'tek

Ula'tek, the most complex boss in WoW Midnight Season 2 Venomous Abyss, can be broken down into three phases.

• Phase 1: Ula'tek fights in human form, frequently using Voidpoison Bolt for wide-area attacks. Safe zones will randomly appear and shrink across the arena.
• Phase 2 (50% Health): Ula'tek reveals his true form, his massive serpentine body coiling around the entire arena. A linking mechanic will appear, requiring players linked together to move in opposite directions to break the link.
• Phase 3 (20% Health): Ula'tek enters an extremely frenzied numerical rush phase, placing the entire arena under constant soft enrage and percentage-based damage. Ula'tek will also unleash his ultimate ability, requiring the raid group to turn their backs to the boss within a specific timeframe, or risk instant death.

Rewards

In addition to the loot drops from defeating Venomous Abyss, you can now obtain an extra piece of gear using Nebulous Voidcores.

Furthermore, in Raid reward system of WoW Midnight Patch 12.1 Season 2, defeating a boss will immediately fill Raid row of Great Vault, meaning the more bosses you defeat, the more loot you will receive.

Response Strategiess

The primary task for players in the first week of Season 2 is to develop a progression strategy centered around quickly acquiring the four-piece set bonus and maximizing survival gear level.

Prepare different gear depending on the difficulty. For Normal difficulty, an average item level of 278 or higher is recommended, while Heroic difficulty requires gear of 292 or higher.

Secondly, due to the abundance of unavoidable nature and poison damage over time within the dungeon, having the latest poison resistance potions and healing potions readily available throughout the raid will be standard practice for the first week of progression.

Response Strategiess

For the new Mythic+, players should focus on the following core strategies for the first week:

1. Split Play and Key Cycle

During the first week, be sure to team up with a fixed group to clear at least one Mythic+ dungeon at the highest level to secure Mythic minimum reward from Great Vault next week.

Simultaneously, try to maximize your score across all 8 dungeons to surpass 2,000 points as early as possible and claim the extra Catalyst Charges from the season achievements.

2. Preventing Mistakes

Altar of Fangs is the most challenging new dungeon in Season 2. During raids, tanks must immediately repel the boss, melee DPS must retreat instantly, and healers must reserve their ultimate healing abilities for the entire raid.

Everyone must use Tempered Nature Protection Potion on cooldown. The entire team must meticulously manage the interrupt chain for high-risk abilities such as "Deadly Poison Darts" to prevent cloth-wearing classes from being instantly killed.

New Quest and Campaign Systems

WoW Midnight The Curse of Ula'tek's overall questline adopts a flatter and more fragmented new narrative framework.

Dual Campaign

The campaign is divided into two main storylines: Silver Covenant's Expedition and Redemption of Light's Hope, unfolding from the perspectives of military advancement and the search for the antidote relic, respectively.

A Toxic Tour

This weekly quest is tied to the latest Delves (The Ring of Glory and Gnarldor Isle) in Season 2. Completing the aforementioned campaign will guide players to accept this quest, rewarding them with a high-tier Trove Hunter's Bounty.

Class and Set Adjustments

For players dedicated to progressing through WoW Midnight Season 2, in addition to the season content updates, class and gear adjustments are crucial factors in their overall gameplay experience.

The developers have fine-tuned some overpowered Season 2 set effects, instead directly increasing the base damage of regular class skills.

Simultaneously, when players use Venomblight Manaflux to convert sets, the new mechanism will retain 100% of the original gear's secondary stats, life steal, dodge, and other tertiary stats, as well as the special Cantrip gear effect.

In other words, upgrading gear is now more effective and reliable than before; players no longer need to sacrifice perfectly statted base gear to complete set bonuses.

Response Strategiess

Therefore, the first week of Season 2 is absolutely the most crucial golden period for players to widen the gear gap and quickly build their gear sets. Different strategies can be adopted for different types of players.

1. All-round Players

The core goal is singular: maximize gains in the first week.

Prioritize progressing through WoW Midnight Patch 12.1 main storyline to unlock Coiled Isle and Vaults of Atal'Utek.

Obtain top-tier gear by first farming normal Delves to unlock Tier 8, then using Trovehunter's Bounty to farm Bountiful Delves, and utilize the daily M0 reset bonus to quickly accumulate gear level, ensuring you complete high-level Mythic+ or Heroic raids to establish a solid foundation for Great Vault rewards.

2. Casual Players

Focus on maximizing Omnium Folio across the entire Battle.net network for high bonuses, and increase trust through Cursed Fishing in Coiled Isle to unlock collectibles.

Finally, look forward to the low-difficulty WoW Midnight Story Mode raid starting on August 25th, allowing you to easily complete the story and obtain basic quest rewards.

With the release of WoW Midnight Patch 12.1, Season 2 is also about to begin.

Season 2 will officially launch on August 18th (North American time), bringing a host of new content, including Delves, Mythic+ dungeon rotations, and the raid The Venomous Abyss.

Delves

Prey

Season 2 introduces Curse of the Isle, a new challenge option for players exploring Coiled Isle. Once enabled, the zone becomes more dangerous, with new threats and environmental changes affecting the experience.

During the exploration, players need to collect Ossified Relics and use these resources to summon the new mini-boss, Ral'kala.

Defeating Ral'kala rewards players with various prizes, including equipment upgrade resources, pets, toys, and the new Hexflame Reaver mount.

Compared to regular world quests, Curse of the Isle offers more specific challenges; and unlike raids, it doesn't require pre-organized groups. Players can participate according to their own schedules, making it ideal for players who enjoy exploration, collecting rewards, or seeking additional challenges in the open world.

Lairs

Lairs gameplay added in Season 2 can be understood as a further expansion of the area boss content in WoW Midnight.

This season's Lairs are located in Tidebound Grotto of Coiled Isle. Players can experience World Difficulty during the pre-season phase, while Normal, Heroic, and Flexible Mythic will be available after the official season begins.

In terms of rewards, Lairs will drop gear of corresponding tiers based on difficulty. From Veteran gear in World difficulty to Myth gear in Mythic, players can choose their challenge targets based on their progress.

Compared to large-scale raids, Lairs has lower time and team requirements. Players don't need to schedule long team activities in advance and can complete boss fights with other players. For players with fragmented playtime or those looking for extra challenges outside of daily content, Lairs is a suitable choice.

Raid

The most anticipated raid content in Midnight Season 2 is undoubtedly the new raid dungeon, The Venomous Abyss.

This dungeon is located in The Vaults of Atal'Utek, beneath Coiled Isle, and features eight bosses. On the season launch day, Normal, Heroic, Mythic, and Raid Finder Wing 1 will be available, with the remaining Raid Finder areas unlocking gradually according to plan.

The raid bosses include:

• Nek'zali,
• Entombed Sentinels,
• The Lost Explorers,
• Vashnik the Malignant,
• The Twin Fangs,
• The Coiled Altar,
• and the final boss, Ula'tek.

As always, class-specific outfits are a key feature of the new raid. All twelve classes will receive new outfits in Season 2, some designs incorporating distinct class elements, such as Monk's Guile of the Monkey King and Warrior's Jade Warlord's Dominion, showcasing the unique characteristics of each class.

Furthermore, completing Glory of the Venomous Raider Achievement will reward you with Crimson Venomfang mount. The raid also includes other collectible rewards, such as Primeval Skyfriend mount dropped by the final boss, Ula'tek.

Great Vault & Bonus Rolls

Great Vault system in Season 2 has also undergone some adjustments.

The biggest change comes from increased raid rewards. After the season begins, Great Vault rewards for Raid Finder, Normal, and Heroic raids will be increased by one tier, making it more efficient for players to acquire gear upgrades through weekly Great Vaults.

This change is particularly beneficial for regular Midnight players. Previously, many players found their Great Vault rewards didn't match their raid completion efforts, but the new mechanism provides a more direct feedback on weekly hard work.

However, Great Vault rewards from the world event during the first week of the season will be limited, reaching a maximum of Champion 3/6.

From the second week onwards, the rewards will increase to Hero 1/6. Additional reward attempts, Void Core Bonus Rolls, will be available on August 25th. Players who unlock three Great Vault slots can choose to use this feature.

WoW Mignight Season 2 has a comprehensive content structure, giving players plenty of opportunities to invest time in the early stages of the season. As Patch 12.1.5 adds more gameplay, WoW Mignight's content will continue to expand. Now, with the upcoming launch of Season 2, a new adventure is about to begin.

While the available activities this week are limited, for most players it's a great opportunity to improve their strength and shine at the start of Season 2.

The currently available Altar of Fangs Dungeon gives players an opportunity to secure Season 2 Champion gear ahead of the upcoming content cycle.

With Patch 12.1, Champion gear can be upgraded to item level 308. Since Season 2 will last only one week, getting this gear early can provide a substantial advantage and help players gain a head start over those who wait. Below, we'll walk through the upgrade process and explain how to make the most of this early gear advantage.

Core Mechanism Changes

In WoW Midnight Patch 12.1, Blizzard has changed the game's gear upgrade system, completely removing Valorstones. Upgrades no longer require cumbersome secondary currencies; instead, each upgrade requires a fixed 20 Mistcrests and a small amount of Gold.

Therefore, to obtain a level 308 Champion piece of gear, you first need to acquire Champion base gear, then collect enough Mistcrests and gold to upgrade it step by step.

Acquiring Champion Base Gear

Since Mythic+ dungeons and raids are not yet available in WoW Midnight Patch 12.1, there are four main ways to obtain Champion base gear in the game.

1. Farm 8 Mythic 0 Dungeons

Mythic 0 bosses have a chance to drop base Champion gear with an initial level of 292. Currently, in WOW Midnight, besides the newly added Altar of Fangs, you can farm Mythic 0 Dungeons from 7 returning dungeons, including:

• Mechagon - Junkyard
• Siege of Boralus
• Kings' Rest
• Temple of Sethraliss
• Shrine of the Storm
• Waycrest Manor
• The Underrot

Note that this week's Mythic 0 Dungeons are locked for the week only, so you only have one chance to farm each dungeon. Ensure your character is strong enough to safely complete them.

2. Defeat the New Lair Boss

WOW Midnight Patch 12.1 introduces the new Lairs instance mode. Head to the newly opened Coiled Isle and defeat Lair Boss there for a chance to directly obtain level 292 Champion gear.

If you're not satisfied with the loot drop, you have one chance to use Nebulous Voidcore to re-evaluate the drop, significantly increasing your chances of getting it.

3. Prey Hunts

Unlock Prey Hunts questline in Coiled Isle for WOW Midnight: Curse of Ula'tek Season 2. This week, head to the ritual point and use the collected Ossified Relics to summon the new elite monster Ral'kala. Defeating it will not only earn you reputation points, but the chest will also guarantee a high-tier piece of equipment.

4. Bountiful Delves

Use Restored Coffer Keys you've accumulated this week to clear Bountiful Delves at level 4 or higher. Bountiful Coffers provide a reliable way to obtain Champion-level base gear.

Acquiring Upgrade Currency

Due to this being the first week of Patch 12.1, there is a weekly cap on Mistcrests needed for gear upgrades. Upgrading a basic Champion piece of gear from level 292 to 308 requires five upgrades (292→295→298→302→305→308), consuming approximately 100 Mistcrests and a significant amount of WoW Midnight Gold.

Besides obtaining the necessary currency from the eight dungeons this week, completing the weekly campaign quests in the new capital city and Curse Surges on Coiled Isle will also reward a small amount of Mistcrests.

You just need to max out your Mistcrests by August 18th next week.

Utilizing the Discount Mechanism

In fact, simply consuming resources to upgrade gear without proper preparation won't be enough to upgrade your entire set, even if you collect a full set of Mistcrests. Therefore, you must perfectly utilize Account-wide Discount mechanism of WoW Midnight: Curse of Ula'tek:

1. Upgrade Veteran Gear First

This week, world quests and normal dungeons will drop a large amount of Veteran gear (level cap 295). Upgrading Veteran gear only requires very low-tier Weathered Mistcrests.

2. Stay at the 295 Level Cap

First, use Weathered Mistcrests to upgrade all your Veteran gear pieces to level 295.

3. Free Upgrades

Once your character (or even characters on the same account and in the same team) already has a level 295 piece of gear, upgrading that piece of Champion gear (from 292 to 295) will trigger a 100% Mistcrest reduction - completely eliminating the need for Runed Mistcrests and requiring only a minimal amount of gold!

The saved Runed Mistcrests can then be used to upgrade the last three tiers from 295 to 308.

Upgrade Tips

1. Avoid Upgrading Major Items

Don't upgrade all pieces of Champion gear at once. Prioritize using Mistcrests to upgrade weapons, Trinkets, rings, and amulets. The improvements to these pieces will immediately boost your character's DPS, healing, and tankiness, and you can achieve higher combat power with fewer Mistcrests.

2. Don't Solo

Because M0 is locked for the week, you only have 8 runs. It is strongly recommended to form an Armor Stack in Premade Groups or with guild friends.

This way, if teammates get duplicate pieces or level 292 Champion base gear that is useless to them, they can trade it directly to you. This is the fastest way to quickly acquire a full set of Champion base gear in the first week of WoW Midnight: Curse of Ula'tek.

3. Account-Wide Secondary Discount

WoW Midnight Patch 12.1's Account-Wide Discount mechanism not only applies to a single character but also to the entire Warband under the same account.

If your main character has already upgraded a Champion piece of gear to the maximum level, you can also enjoy the halved Runed Mistcrest cost when upgrading the same Champion piece of gear on your alt character under the same account.

Furthermore, since this week is only Pre-season, many of Champion pieces you obtain may have very poor stats and will not be of much use to your character's attributes.

In this case, you can avoid wasting Runed Mistcrests on upgrading them. Mythic+ expansion, which opens in Season 2 after August 18th, allows you to farm suitable gear without restrictions.

This week, save your Mistcrest. Unless you find a near-BiS set with perfect stats, or want to get into next week's raid early, keeping Mistcrest until next week is the most efficient way to maximize your gains.

Patch 12.1, Curse of Ula'tek, will go live on August 11th, a landmark update for World of Warcraft Midnight Transmog collectors.

This update includes not only new raid sets, but also groundbreaking changes to Transmog system and long-awaited new weapons. This article will provide a detailed breakdown of the new items coming in Patch 12.1. Let's take a look.

Transmog System Overhaul

Before delving into transmog gear, it's crucial to understand the fundamental changes to WoW Midnight Transmog system. This is the system's biggest update since its inception.

Upon your first login, your previously saved sets will automatically be converted into new custom sets. Furthermore, the application and maintenance of sets have changed.

In Patch 12.1, you'll need to acquire and unlock specific set slots, which you can then assign transmog appearances to equipment slots. These appearances will be retained regardless of what new gear you equip.

This means you won't need to reapply appearances every time you upgrade gear; new gear will automatically inherit the appearance you set for that slot. While setting an initial transmog appearance still requires spending some WoW Midnight Gold, you no longer need to pay every time you change gear.

In addition, Transmog system changes in Curse of Ula'tek add a Situations feature. You can now set different transmog appearances that automatically switch based on various in-game triggers. These triggers include location (e.g., resting in a city, entering a raid, or starting a battleground), mode of movement (riding, swimming), weather, time, or your current specialization.

Class Tier Sets

At the heart of Patch 12.1 transmog collection are new class sets from Venomous Abyss raid. Each set draws inspiration from the raid's troll theme and fully incorporates the core fantasy elements of its respective class.

Meanwhile, each set has four main color schemes, each corresponding to a different difficulty: orange for Raid Finder, green for Normal, purple for Heroic, and red for Mythic. In addition, there are exclusive color schemes for Elite PvP.

Plate Sets

There are three Plate Sets: Death Knight's Baleful Graveknight's Crucible, Paladin's Radiance of Concentrated Flame, and Warrior's Jade Warlord's Dominion. Let's take a closer look.

Death Knight - Baleful Graveknight's Crucible

This set, shrouded in skulls and runic power, is a masterpiece of darkness. Its most striking feature is the shoulder armor, inlaid with ghostly rune orbs shimmering with icy blue energy.

Higher difficulty versions add a strong red glow to the armor's decorative parts, enhancing the class's dark fantasy style. The epic version is undoubtedly the best choice, perfectly showcasing the classic and intimidating image of Death Knight.

Black Dragon color scheme on Normal difficulty is arguably the best version, even surpassing Mythic difficulty version. It's worth noting that this armor looks best in Phantom Form; players who spend most of their time in Dragon Form may not fully appreciate its charm.

There are four Leather Sets: Demon Hunter's Abyssal Doomhound's Pursuit, Druid's Bark of the Enigmatic Dreamwatcher, Monk's Guile of the Monkey King, and Rogue's Chosen Bloodslayer's Hexweave.

Demon Hunter - Abyssal Doomhound's Pursuit

The highlight of this set is its shoulder armor with jaws. In Mythic and Elite difficulty versions, these jaw pieces open and make a rustling sound, giving the set a sophisticated and interactive look. For players who enjoy dynamic gear, this is definitely a must-have item.
